Solution to Automatic Monitoring of Surface Water Quality

Solution background

As proposed by Plan on Setting Surface Water Environmental Quality Monitoring Network during the 13th Five-Year Plan Period issued by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of the People's Republic of China on March 16, 2016, the sections and trend study sections shall be evaluated, assessed and ranked, water environmental quality shall be improved, and the requirements for current environmental management such as assessment of prevention and control objectives & tasks of water pollution in river basins as well as urban water environmental quality ranking shall be met.

As required by the Action Plan for Prevention and Control of Water Pollution and the Opinions on Comprehensively Promoting the River Chief System issued by the State Council on April 16, 2015, and December 11, 2016 respectively, by 2020, the water environmental monitoring network shall be improved and technical support capability for surface water monitoring shall be enhanced. Meanwhile, comprehensive improvement of river and lake water environment shall be strengthened, and gridded & information construction for water environment treatment shall be promoted.

Solution overview

In recent years, China's surface water quality conditions have caused wide concern from people in all circles both at home and abroad, and is closely related to people's living standards and physical health. The key problems to be solved for surface water pollution control and prevention are to accurately monitor and give an early warning for surface water quality, as well as realize full coverage of automatic monitoring network for surface water.
This solution enables 24h continuous automatic monitoring of surface water quality, automatic collection and transmission of monitoring data, forecast and early warning of water pollution as well as study on water pollution characteristics and mechanism, and provides auxiliary support for governmental decisions in surface water pollution control and water environment quality ranking improvement.

Solution composition

The online automatic monitoring system for surface water quality takes the online automatic analyzer as the core, and applies the comprehensive online automatic monitoring system comprising the modern sensor technology, automatic survey technology, automatic control technology, computer application technology and relevant special analysis software and communication analysis network. Carry out real-time continuous on-line monitoring and remote control for water quality of rivers, lakes, water sources, reservoirs, sewage treatment plant discharge outlet, offshore waters, water supply pipeline networks, industrial wastewater and municipal wastewater. Provide scientific basis for solution of disputes arising from water pollution accidents that involve different administrative regions, implementation of control policies on total pollution discharge, advance warning and alarming on environment quality, and recognition of pollution source, thus laying sound technical foundation for water environment management and decision-making.

Selection of monitoring point

Based on layout requirements of water environmental monitoring points, and given its large floor area and desirable scalability, standardized water stations are mainly located at control sections at all levels, thus delivering stable monitoring for water environment.
